How do I install Kynetik?
Install Kynetik directly from the BigCommerce App Marketplace. Search for 'Kynetik' or click the 'Install App' button on our website. The app will automatically connect to your store and sync your products.
How does the free trial work?
Every new installation includes a 14-day free trial with full access to all features. No credit card is required to start. Use this time to set up your hardware, train your staff, and make sure everything works with your store. After 14 days, you'll need to subscribe to continue using the app.
What happens after the trial ends?
At the end of your 14-day trial, you'll be prompted to subscribe through the BigCommerce Marketplace. If you don't subscribe, you won't be able to process transactions, but your settings and configuration will be saved if you decide to subscribe later.
What devices are supported?
Kynetik works on iPhones (iOS 15+) and Android devices (Android 10+). For Tap to Pay, you need an iPhone XS or later, or an Android device with NFC support. Both phones and tablets are supported with optimized layouts.
How does Tap to Pay work?
Tap to Pay uses your device's built-in NFC reader to accept contactless payments. Customers tap their card, phone, or watch on your device. We integrate with major payment providers to offer competitive card-present rates.
What payment methods are accepted?
We support contactless credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), Apple Pay, Google Pay, cash, gift cards, and store credit. You can also split payments across multiple methods.
Does the app work offline?
Yes! Your entire product catalog is cached locally. You can continue processing cash sales offline, and orders will queue up and sync automatically when you're back online. Card payments require connectivity.
How does inventory sync work?
Inventory updates in real-time via webhooks. When a sale is made online or in-store, stock levels update across all channels within seconds. You can also view stock at all locations from the product detail screen.
Can I have multiple locations?
Yes! The Pro plan supports unlimited locations. Each location can have its own inventory, devices, and staff. Stock is tracked per-location, and you can see inventory across all stores when looking up a product.
How do staff log in?
Staff use a 4-6 digit PIN for fast login (under 3 seconds). PINs are securely hashed. For sensitive actions like large refunds, staff may be prompted for a one-time code sent to their email.
How do refunds work?
Look up any order by number, email, or phone. Select the items being returned, choose to refund to the original payment method or store credit, and optionally restock the items. Large refunds may require manager approval.
What is manager escalation?
When staff try to perform sensitive actions (like refunds over their limit), a manager must approve. Managers can enter their PIN locally or receive an OTP to approve remotely from anywhere.
How does Buy Online Pickup In-Store work?
When customers place pickup orders on your website, they appear in your POS pickup queue. Staff can update status (Preparing → Ready → Picked Up) and customers are automatically notified when their order is ready.
Can I send digital receipts?
Yes! You can print receipts (Star Micronics printers supported) or send via email. Receipts include order details, your store branding, and a link to view the order online.
What are the processing fees?
Kynetik doesn't add any fees on top of your payment provider's rates. You pay your provider's standard card-present rates directly. We support multiple payment providers so you can choose the best option for your business.
Is there a contract?
No contracts. Pay monthly, cancel anytime. Join the waitlist to be notified when onboarding opens. Your data stays in BigCommerce where it belongs, so you can always access your orders and customers.
How do I add staff members?
Staff are synced from your BigCommerce users. In the admin panel, go to Staff and click 'Sync from BigCommerce'. You can then configure POS-specific settings like PIN and permissions for each staff member.
