Everything you need to know to use Kynetik POS effectively.

Processing a Sale
To ring up a sale:
- Add products by searching, scanning a barcode, or browsing categories
- Adjust quantities using the + and - buttons, or tap the quantity to enter a number
- Apply discounts by tapping the discount icon on a line item or the cart total
- Add a customer (optional) by tapping "Add Customer" to link the sale to their account
- Tap Checkout when ready to accept payment
Tip: Double-tap a product in the cart to open its details, where you can change the price or add notes.
Accepting Payments
Kynetik supports multiple payment methods:
Tap to Pay (Contactless)
- Tap Card on the payment screen
- Hold your device ready (NFC area near the top)
- Customer taps their card, phone, or watch
- Wait for the "Approved" confirmation
Requires iPhone XS+ or Android with NFC. Stripe account required.
Card Reader
- Tap Card on the payment screen
- Select your connected reader
- Customer inserts, taps, or swipes their card on the reader
- Wait for approval
Supports Stripe Terminal readers (WisePOS E, S700, BBPOS).
Cash
- Tap Cash on the payment screen
- Enter the amount tendered
- The app calculates change due
- Tap Complete Sale
Split Payments
Customers can pay with multiple methods:
- After the first payment, tap Add Payment Method
- Select the next payment type (card, cash, gift card, store credit)
- Enter the amount for this payment
- Repeat until the balance is zero
Processing Refunds
- Tap Orders in the bottom navigation
- Search for the order by order number, customer email, or phone
- Tap the order to view details
- Tap Refund
- Select the items being returned and quantities
- Choose whether to restock items
- Select refund method: Original payment, Store credit, or Cash
- Tap Process Refund
Note: Refunds over a certain amount may require manager approval. A manager can enter their PIN or approve remotely via a one-time code.
Finding Products
There are several ways to find products:
Search
Type a product name, SKU, or barcode in the search bar. Results appear as you type.
Barcode Scan
Tap the camera icon to scan a barcode. Works with the built-in camera or Bluetooth scanners.
Browse Categories
Tap Categories to browse your product catalog by category.
Recent Products
Recently viewed and frequently sold products appear at the top of the product screen.
Products sync from BigCommerce automatically. New products appear within 60 seconds of being added to your store.
Customer Lookup
Link sales to customer accounts for order history and loyalty:
- During checkout, tap Add Customer
- Search by name, email, or phone
- Select the customer from results, or tap Create New if they're not in the system
- The customer's pricing tier and store credit will be applied automatically
Customer data syncs from BigCommerce. New customers created at the register are added to your BigCommerce customer list.
Printing Receipts
After completing a sale, you can:
- Print – Sends to your connected receipt printer
- Email – Sends a digital receipt to the customer's email
- No Receipt – Skips the receipt
Supported Printers
Star Micronics printers via Bluetooth (TSP143IIIBI, mPOP) or WiFi/LAN (TSP143IIIW, TSP654II). Connect printers in Settings → Hardware → Printers.
Held Orders
Park a transaction while the customer continues shopping:
- With items in the cart, tap Hold Order
- Add a note (e.g., customer name) to identify the order later
- Continue serving other customers
- To recall, tap Held Orders and select the order
- The cart is restored and you can complete checkout
Held orders sync across devices, so any register can recall them.
Buy Online Pickup In-Store (BOPIS)
When customers order online for in-store pickup:
- Orders appear in the Pickup tab
- Tap an order to view items
- Gather the items and tap Mark as Ready
- The customer receives an automatic notification
- When they arrive, tap Complete Pickup
Pickup orders are filtered by location, so each store only sees orders for their location.
